Altru Health Foundation’s Harvest Gala 2013 Supports Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services

Altru Health System, Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health Foundation, along with main event sponsor Alerus Financial, will host the ninth annual Harvest Gala on September 28 at the Alerus Center. Around 650 people are expected to attend the sold out event, which will benefit Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services, focusing on autism services.

Staggering data suggests that 1 in 88 children may not get the chance to thrive and flourish like others. These children have a puzzling condition that isolates them from ‘normal’ human contact and disrupts the development of physical, emotional, social and communication skills – autism.

“Although Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services treats a large variety of diagnoses, a clear area of focus, not only for us but for our region and nation, is the identification and treatment of children with autism and related disorders,” says Diane Gunderson, manager of Physical Medicine and Therapy Services and Specialty Clinics at Altru.

Funds raised through Harvest Gala will secure the financial future of Altru’s Rehab Autism Screening Clinic, provide state-of-the-art therapy equipment for patients, and provide financially-eligible families with assistance for therapy services and equipment not typically covered by insurance.

“With the help of our community, we are within reach of raising $1 million for patient care at Altru since the beginning of the event. We have high hopes we can make our goal this year,” says Rohinee Damle, Harvest Gala Committee Chair. Although this year’s event is sold out, donations may still be made to support Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services at www.altru.org/foundation or calling 701.780.5600.
