Altru Physician Works With USA Men’s Hockey Team
Grand Forks, ND – Altru’s Darin Leetun, MD, is a team physician for the USA Men’s Hockey Team. November 6-11, Dr. Leetun will accompany the team at the Deutschland Cup in Munich, Germany.

Dr. Leetun has over ten years of experience in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine and has been team physician for USA Hockey since February 2010. Dr. Leetun attended the University of North Dakota where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. He continued his education at the University of Virginia, earning his medical degree. Dr. Leetun completed a residency at Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals Orthopedic Residency. He completed Sports Medicine fellowships at Perth Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, PerthAustralia and Kentucky Sports Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with specialty certification in Sports Medicine.
About Deutschland Cup
The USA Men's Select Team, which is comprised of players currently participating in European elite leagues, will compete in the 2013 Deutschland Cup Nov. 8-10 in Munich, Germany. Team USA will be playing against squads from Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland. The United States has played in the Deutschland Cup on seven occasions (2002-05, 2007, 2009, 2011), winning the championship in 2003 and 2004.
