Chris Semrau elected as Community Director to Altru Health System’s Board of Directors
Grand Forks, N.D – Chris Semrau, Director of Events & Media Relations of Ralph Engelstad Arena, was recently elected to Altru Health System’s Board of Directors. As a Community Director, Semrau will work in coordination with other Board members in the development and oversight of policy in areas of quality, performance improvement, effective planning and performance of Altru Health System.
Semrau has served as the Director of Events and Media Relations for Ralph Engelstad Arena since May 2000 when he earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of North Dakota. His role in booking and event management has been significant for the myriad of events hosted at Ralph Engelstad Arena including 2005 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, 2008 Men’s World Curling Championship, NCAA Division I Men’s West Regional Hockey Tournament, NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship, and numerous concerts and family shows. He is part of the facility’s senior management team that directs development and planning decisions for the 11,634-seat facility. From inception of the operation, Semrau has promoted Ralph Engelstad Arena on a national and international basis.
Semrau has worked for the Academy of Country Music at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas, Nev., and serves as the assistant event manager for WE-Fest at the Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, Minn. He’s also dedicated to serving the Greater Grand Forks community which shows through his involvement as a chairman for the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce and a founding member of the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals. Recently, Semrau was named to the 40 under 40 North Dakotans by the Bismarck Tribune and in 2009 was the UND Alumni Association Young Alumni Achievement Award Recipient.
