Dr. A. Marc Nielsen Named New Program Director of Altru Family Medicine Residency

Grand Forks, ND – A. Marc Nielsen, MD, will assume the role of program director of Altru Family Medicine Residency, effective January 1, 2014. Dr. Nielsen will replace Gregory Greek, MD, who is stepping down from the role but continuing to see patients.

Dr. Nielsen has been with Altru Health System since November 2012. Dr. Nielsen attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., where he received a degree in biology and chemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. He then completed a residency in family medicine at the University of North Dakota Family Practice Center. Prior to joining Altru, Dr. Nielsen practiced in family medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Willison, N.D. Dr. Nielsen is board certified by the American Academy of Family Medicine.

In this new position, Dr. Nielsen “will strive to maintain the tradition of graduating well-trained physicians who can provide the full scope of Family Medicine. We will continue to assess the health care provider needs across the State of North Dakota, and work to place graduating residents in areas of need.”
