About Altru’s Hospitalists

A hospitalist is a specialty physician dedicated to comprehensive care who treats solely hospitalized patients.  Hospitalists follow patients from admittance to discharge.  They also consult patients admitted by other services, such as surgery or in the rehab, who need additional attention in general medicine.

Hospitalist works to enhance the performance of the system through collaboration, communication and coordination with other physicians and all hospital care personnel.  They strive for prompt and complete attention to patients care needs, including diagnosis and treatment, safe transitioning within and from the hospital, and efficient use of resources.
