Rachel Salberg, NP, Joins Altru Health System

Altru Health System, Grand Forks, ND – Rachel Salberg joins Altru’s palliative care team. Rachel began her education in nursing at Northwest Technical College in Moorhead, Minn where she earned an associate’s degree.  She also received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Recently, she earned a master’s of science degree for adult nurse practitioner with a palliative care specialty at the University of Alabama – Birmingham. Rachel has worked in health care for 18 years, for the past eight years she has been a registered nurse at Altru Health System. 

Altru’s Palliative Care

The goal of palliative care is to relieve suffering and ensure the best possible quality of life for people facing advanced chronic and life-threatening illness. It is provided alongside all other appropriate curative treatments. 

Palliative care includes management of pain and physical symptoms, adjusting the care plan around the patients and provide support for emotional suffering. Palliative care helps the patient and their loved ones deal with the uncertainties of a serious illness
