Altru Earns American College of Radiology Ultrasound

Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health System has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound –abdomen/obstetrics/vascular and breast ultrasound as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

“Receiving this accreditation means patients are receiving the best care with the highest level of quality,” said Laurie Mahin, ultrasound services supervisor. “It’s a tribute to the providers and staff.”

Ultrasound imaging is a noninvasive medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body parts to help providers diagnose illness, injury or other medical problems. Each year, more than 23,000 ultrasounds are performed at Altru.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assistance programs are assessed.
