Altru Health Foundation Awarded Experian Healthcare Grant to Support Charity Care
Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health Foundation was awarded a $20,000 grant by Experian Healthcare to help support its Charity Care fund. Created to help patients pay for medical services, Charity Care provides full or partial discounts on outstanding patient balances for services deemed medically necessary. Experian Healthcare's contribution will help provide funding to assist patients who do not qualify for other types of financial support.
"Going through a medical procedure can be a stressful life event that can be compounded by the inability to pay for care," says Dan Buell, general manager of Experian Healthcare. "In today’s economy, it has become more and more important for the health care industry to have funds for charity care that reach financially challenged consumers and help ease this unnecessary burden. We are proud to award Altru Health Foundation with this grant, and provide them with tools and services to help create a more positive patient experience."
Altru Health System will also be utilizing Experian Healthcare's Payment Plan AdvisorSM solution. This product automatically calculates the ideal payment plan for each patient based on his or her unique financial situation, ultimately enabling Altru Health System to create customized plans for patients in need.
"A number of financial challenges face the health care industry that can potentially leave patients unable to pay their medical expenses," says Jon Green, executive director of Altru Health Foundation. "We are thankful for Experian Healthcare's contributions to the Charity Care fund. The $20,000 donation will help tremendously, as Altru provides more than $20 million annually in medical care for uninsured and underinsured patients. Additionally, by leveraging Payment Plan Advisor, we will be able to provide our patients with a payment plan designed specifically for their needs."
