Areas of Greatest Need
Camp Good Mourning
This is the only grief camp in North Dakota for children and teens who have lost a loved one. The camp is held at Park River Bible Camp for 50 children and teens. Funds are used for camp scholarships, lodging, food, background checks for volunteers, activities and therapies. The camp is funded entirely by donations, fund raisers, and a $25 registration fee that is waived if it’s a hardship for the family.
Filling the Gap
This program supports the patients receiving cancer treatments at Altru Cancer Center. These funds provide transportation aid, lodging, and nutritional supplements to patients who meet the financial qualifications. On average, over $12,000 in assistance is provided to patients each month.
Caring for Kids
Caring for Kids is a grant program for kids with chronic conditions and their families. It was established to improve the quality of life for pediatric patients and their families by lifting some of their financial burdens. It provides transportation assistance in the form of gas gift cards and lodging assistance when a series of overnight accommodations are needed. This assistance is not typically covered by insurance, and deeply affects patients and their families.
TEARS Suicide Prevention and Awareness
TEARS (Together we Educate About the Realities of Suicide) Suicide Awareness was established to support individuals and families who have lost a loved one to suicide and also to provide important education in hopes of preventing suicide in our Grand Forks community and surrounding region.
TEARS helps organizations and schools with suicide prevention projects by providing resources made possible by donations raised in our annual Walk to Remember, Walk to Support which is held in September.
