Altru’s Harvest Gala is an annual formal event designed to support a different area of patient care each year. This year’s beneficiary is Altru’s Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative.

Despite recent health care legislation, there remains unexpected cost sharing for patients in need of a colonoscopy screening. The out-of-pocket expense can be a financial barrier that prevents patients from seeking this prevention tool. Altru Health System has adopted a strategic initiative to reduce the number of colon cancers diagnosed at Stage III or IV from 39 percent to 20 percent in Altru’s service area. 

Funds are raised through registration fees, silent and live auction items and generous event sponsors. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at the Gala will go to support patients through Altru’s Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative.
