Spin for Kids Breaks a Record
The energy level was high, teams were cheering, and volunteers were dancing—it was another incredibly successful year for Spin for Kids. The fourth annual indoor stationary bike race raised over $57,000 for patients of Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services—a recording breaking race day—thanks to sponsors, rider teams, and individual donors.
“All 320 riders and approximately 90 volunteers came together to make Spin for Kids a success. They all bring a really fun, energetic vibe to the race, and it is so great to see so many individuals come together in this manner for such a great cause,” says Jessica Strand, supervisor of Altru’s Physical Medicine and Therapy Services and one of the organizers of Spin for Kids.
Spin for Kids seeks to help families by providing grants for therapy services, equipment such as braces and wheelchairs, and mileage to and from therapy appointments. All the funds raised directly benefit children with a variety of special needs due to neurological, orthopedic, and genetic disorders, in addition to problems with developmental delays.
More donations continue to come in and the committee hopes to raise $75,000 by the end of 2013.
