Areas of Greatest Need
Camp Good Mourning
This is the only grief camp in North Dakota for children and teens who have lost a loved one. The camp is held at Park River Bible Camp for 50 children and teens. Funds are used for lodging, food, background checks for volunteers, activities and therapies. The camp is funded entirely by donations, fund raisers, and a $25 registration fee that is waived if it’s a hardship for the family.
Filling the Gap
This program supports the patients receiving cancer treatments at Altru Cancer Center. These funds provide transportation aid, lodging, and nutritional supplements to patients who meet the financial qualifications. On average, over $10,000 in assistance is provided to patients each month.
NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
This extraordinary unit within Altru’s Family Birthing Center takes care of our tiniest patients. Specialized equipment is required to handle these special patients. Immediate needs include an additional Giraffe OmniBed, medication fusion pumps, and space lab monitors.
HARP (Help and Assist Renal Patients)
Patients dealing with kidney failure must receive dialysis treatments three times per week for four hours each time. The treatments of filtering out the waste from a patient’s blood supply leave them exhausted. Patients need to supplement their nutritional intake because the dialysis treatments can strip their blood of nutrients. The HARP program provides financially-qualified patients with transportation aid, lodging, and nutritional supplements.
Healthy ‘n Fit Kids
Childhood obesity is a nation-wide epidemic that leads to lifelong chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. Healthy ‘n Fit Kids is a twelve week program for children ages 9 -12 that provides education on healthy eating and activity. The cost of the program is $160 per child. Scholarships are needed to defray that cost for children and their families who are unable to afford the program.
