Altru Opens Registration for Annual Spin for Kids

Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health System will host Spin for Kids on April 12, 2014 at Sacred Heart School in East Grand Forks, Minn. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Spin for Kids is an indoor race on stationary bikes. Teams of eight raise pledges to provide supportive programs, services and equipment to children with special needs within our community and region. All proceeds will be disbursed to qualifying families to help ease the struggles they face every day and help children live the fullest life possible. Registration for this event opens on February 19, 2014 at 7 Altru’s Medical Fitness Center (1300 S. Columbia Road, inside Altru Rehabilitation Center.) Bikes fill fast; teams are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

“We are absolutely thrilled about Spin for Kids. This is our fifth annual event and each year the day is getting bigger and better,” said Maureen Riley, Spin for Kids coordinator and supervisor of Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services. “There are so many ways to get involved to help children and families in our area, whether riding, volunteering, donating or simply cheering on the teams in support.”

Last year, Spin for Kids raised nearly $60,000. This year, the committee hopes to reach a goal of $75,000 to benefit kids and families in our region. For more information on the event, or to donate, visit or call 701.780.2533.

About Altru’s Pediatric Therapy Services

Altru's Pediatric Therapy Services utilizes a team approach for the treatment of neurological, orthopedic and genetic disorders, as well as problems associated with premature birth and developmental delays. The team includes occupational, physical and speech therapists, social workers, the child's medical team, and prosthetic and orthotic specialists. The goal of the department is to help each child live the fullest life possible by enhancing function and fostering independence through innovative therapeutic programming.
