Altru Announces New Radiology Leadership

Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health System is proud to announce the following changes in the radiology leadership team. Altru’s Radiology restructured to meet the needs of our customers as we continue to grow our services. This includes expanding and realigning of duties as follows:

  • Joe Gemmill is manager of CT, MRI and nuclear medicine. Gemmill received his associate’s degree in radiologic technology from Northland Community & Technical College and is registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Kerry Nikle continues as supervisor of nuclear medicine. 
  • Laurie Mahin is manager of ultrasound and mammography. Mahin received her associate’s degree in diagnostic ultrasound from Abbot Northwestern Hospital/St. Catherine University in Minneapolis. She is registered in both diagnostic and vascular ultrasound. Tarra Ihry continues as supervisor of mammography. 
  • Jessi Nicola is manager of diagnostic x-ray. Nicola received her associate’s degree in radiologic technology from Northland Community & Technical College and her bachelor of science in applied health sciences from the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Jeanne Boman will be supervisor of diagnostic x-ray.

As managers, each is responsible for the day-to-day operations, department budget, department goals, staff management, and patient and employee rounding in their respective areas.

  • Rich Lofgren will transition into a new role as radiology coordinator. He will be responsible for the radiation safety for all fluoro and diagnostic x-ray, including regional sites, staff training, quality assurance, billing and contract payments. Lofgren received his radiology training from the United States Air Force.
