Altru Health System Awarded Blue Distinction Center+ For Maternity Care
Grand Forks, ND - Altru Health System has earned the Blue Distinction Center+ (BDC+) level of care for its expertise and cost-efficiency in delivering specialty care. This distinction, the highest of the two-level designation process, seeks to recognize healthcare facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality care safely, effectively and cost efficiently. The goal of the Blue Cross Blue Shield-run program is to inform the consumers to allow them to find both quality and value for their specialty care needs. This distinction reflects Altru’s commitment to provide world-class care to the residents of the region.
The process of acquiring BDC+ takes place by reviewing facilities on objective, transparent Selection Criteria with quality, business and cost of care components. The program focuses on Vaginal Delivery and Cesarean Delivery episodes of care performed at acute care inpatient facilities; routine obstetrical services and follow-up care are also included. Costs related to newborn services are excluded when submitted on separate claims from the mother, BDC+ can only be evaluated if the facility first meets nationally established, objective quality measures designated for Blue Distinction Centers.
