Altru Health System Named 2015 Most Wired™ - Advanced Category
Grand Forks, ND — Altru Health System has been recognized in the Advanced Category in this year’s HealthCare’s Most Wired™ survey. Of the 741 participating organizations, representing 2,213 hospitals across the country, only 13 organizations were named in the Advanced Category. The survey, released on July 9 by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), is a leading industry barometer measuring information technology (IT) use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. It examined how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.
According to the survey, hospitals are taking more aggressive privacy and security measures to protect and safeguard patient data.
“Looking forward we'll have to think of the patient as a user of the electronic health record and create an environment of care that is not limited to the boundaries of our campuses, an environment in which the patient is engaged in their healthcare decision-making process,” stated Mark Waind, chief information officer at Altru. “We are finding that patients have a strong desire to be engaged in their healthcare and that patients that get involved are more likely to follow treatment plans, manage their conditions, and have better outcomes.”
Detailed results of the survey and study can be found in the July issue of H&HN. For details and a full list of winners visit www.hhnmag.com.
