Altru’s Chief Executive Receives Nursing Conference Awards

Grand Forks, ND – Margaret Reed, Altru Health System’s chief nurse executive, recently received the North Dakota Legendary Nurse awards: Founder and Nurse Executive from the North Dakota Center for Nursing.

Reed was awarded the founder award due to her role as president of the North Dakota Organization of Nurse Executives, being the first president of the North Dakota Center for Nursing Board of Directors and her continued activity in the organization and state. Reed received the nurse executive award as a result of the nursing leadership she has provided at Altru for over 20 years.

Reed has worked at Altru since January of 1976. Margaret received her diploma from Trinity School of Nursing in Minot, North Dakota. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Dakota. She finished her master’s degree in business administration in medical group management from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  

About the North Dakota Center for Nursing Awards

The North Dakota Center for Nursing Legendary nurse awards are given in five categories: founder, advocacy, facility achievement, leadership and nurse executive. Reed received two awards. This year, the conference celebrated 100 Years of nursing in North Dakota. Nurses from across the state attended sessions presented by speakers and panelists. In addition, awards were also presented to nurses with over 50 years of experience.
