Altru’s Gala 2015 to Support Altru’s Healthy ‘N Fit Initiative

Grand Forks, ND – Living a healthy lifestyle is a challenge for many. To address this issue, Altru Health Foundation announced Altru’s Gala 2015 will benefit Altru’s Healthy ‘n Fit Initiative. Along with main event sponsor Alerus Financial, Altru Health Foundation will host the eleventh annual gala on September 26, 2015 at the Alerus Center.

Altru, along with a community-based Advisory Committee, completed a community health needs assessment in August 2013. It showed the rate of obesity for Grand Forks County is 31 percent, compared to the national benchmark of 25 percent. This committee chose “rate of obesity” as the number one community priority based on the urgency of the health need.

Altru’s Gala 2015 will provide community outreach to youth and adults who are interested in weight management and resulting health benefits but are unable to afford the programs. Funds raised will decrease the financial barriers to healthy lifestyle education that some people unfortunately experience. Programs benefitting from the funds raised will include Altru’s Weight Management Program and Healthy ‘N Fit Kids and Families.
