Brenda Sondreal Receives First Ever Altruist Award from Altru Health Foundation

Altru Health System, Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health Foundation presented Brenda Sondreal with the first ever Altruist Award on Tuesday, May 19 at Altru’s Annual Members Meeting. The Altruist Award was created to recognize an individual for outstanding leadership in philanthropy at Altru. The recipient demonstrates a long-term personal commitment of time, talent and treasure to the needs of patients at Altru Health System.

Brenda has served as a long time committee member for Altru’s Gala (formerly Harvest Gala), gathering auction items, assisting with and set-up and tear down for the event. Brenda credits her husband of 54 years, Jim, with assisting her in all her committee work. “He is so helpful with gathering auction items and he’s extremely supportive of me, Altru, and Altru Health Foundation,” says Brenda.

“When we met with Brenda to share with her that she was selected for this recognition, it became apparent how appropriate our selection was,” says Jon Green, executive director of Altru Health Foundation. “She spoke about how the actions of her parents taught her to share her time and talents to make the world a better place for others in need. Brenda has carried forward her parents’ philanthropic spirit and passion. She has served tirelessly on the Gala volunteer planning committee for many years, taking an active role in their work. Congratulations to Brenda and thank you for all that you do for the patients of Altru.”
