Altru Joins LifeSource to Let Life Bloom During National Donate Life Month

Grand Forks, N.D. – Altru Health System is participating in the “Let Life Bloom” campaign during April to educate about the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation and provide an opportunity for people to show support of these life-saving gifts.

Our Living Legacy wall, located in the Altru Hospital lobby, a tribute to organ, tissue and eye donors from Altru Health System has been updated to include the donors from 2015. This beautiful, timeless memorial was unveiled in April 2014 and was the first donation memorial wall in North Dakota. Since 2006, Altru Health System’s 37 organ donors have provided 88 life-saving organs for transplant, and 19 organs for research. In addition, and of equal importance, 99 tissue donors have provided approximately 5,460 gifts for many grateful recipients. Altru Health System’s partnership with LifeSource North Dakota expanded this year with eye donation options. Seven eye donors have provided instant sight for 14 people since January 2016.

As we honor national donate life month, Altru Health System encourages people to register as a donor, honor those who have given the gift of life and congratulate those who have benefited from donor gifts. Becoming a donor is simple and licensed drivers and state ID card holders can register online at
