Third Annual Run for Your Buns 5K to Benefit Colon Cancer

Grand Forks, N.D. – Run for Your Buns 5K Run/Walk benefitting colon cancer will take place 8 a.m. Saturday, June 11, in Grand Forks. The race will begin and end in Lincoln Park at Shelter #2, with the course following the Greater Grand Forks Greenway. Net proceeds from the race will be presented to Altru Health Foundation to help uninsured and underinsured patients afford the cost of screening colonoscopy. Over the course of a lifetime, one in 20 adults will be diagnosed with colon cancer. When detected early, colon cancer is treatable.

“Screening colonoscopy is the best test for screening and detecting colon cancer,” said race director Kamrin Macki, gastroenterology nurse practitioner and avid runner. “Why not raise awareness and funds while engaging in a healthy activity? The community’s support of this event has been incredible.”

Sponsors of this year’s Run for Your Buns include: Altru Health System, Overmoe & Nelson Certified Public Accountants, Altru Clinic Pharmacy, Altru Advanced Orthopedics, Tony Chu, MD, James Wood, MD, Howard Hack, MD, Kamrin Macki, NP, Britton Transport, Dr. Casey & Bev Ryan, Brenda Hanson, PA, Complete Nutrition, American Family Insurance: Jeremy Fulton Agency, Express Auto Glass & Repair, Valley Vision Clinic, State Farm Insurance: Sharon Opdahl Agency, Hugo's Family Marketplace, Jack Sitter Photography & Design, RoadID, See Dick Run and The Verge at Grand Forks.
