The Cherished Children Memorial Service seeks to support families who have lost a child by any means, at any stage of life.
This year’s service will highlight a father’s journey through grief. Guest speakers, Rev. John Rieth and Dr. Marcus Weaver-Hightower, will share their personal stories of love and loss.
The event is free and open to the public. Information booths will open at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. Participating organizations include TEARS Suicide Prevention Project, Altru’s Child Life Program, Wings of Hope-Altru’s Infant Bereavement Services, Altru’s Complementary Therapies, Camp Good Mourning and Altru Health Foundation. Certified therapy dogs and their trainers will also be in attendance. Music will be provided by the Higher Ground praise band from Sharon Lutheran Church.
A balloon release will close the evening.
