Philosophy Of Medicine

“My medical philosophy is based on delivering compassionate, evidence-based care, targeted to the individual’s needs, wishes and desires. After medical school, I worked in a rural area where most of the people spoke a different language and I often had to use an interpreter; yet I observed how a gentle, interested and empathic approach to the concerns of my patients reduced their anxiety. I also found that if one won the confidence of a patient and explained carefully why they needed to make lifestyle modifications or take their medications, their situation improved remarkably. The process of meeting new people, bonding with them, sharing their hopes, empathizing with their peculiar situations and working together with them to meet their health goals is something I look forward to doing for the rest of my life.”
