Insurance Information

As a service to our patients, Altru Health System provides staff to assist you in filing insurance claims.

If you have medical insurance, our staff will prepare your insurance claims for all services rendered at Altru Health System and submit these to your insurance company. There is no charge for this service. It is the patient's responsibility, however, to provide us with required insurance information, including:

  • Name and address of your insurance company
  • Your policy number
  • Policy type (family or single)
  • Effective date of insurance coverage.

Family policies require patients provide the names and birth dates of all family members. If you file your own claims, Altru will provide the information you need upon request.

With insurance-related questions, please call Altru Business Centerat 701.780.1500.

Medicare

Altru is a participating Medicare provider. This means Medicare will pay Altru for services provided to Medicare patients. If you qualify for Medicare, it is your responsibility to pay any Medicare deductibles, co-payments and non-covered charges. It is important that you provide us with your Medicare number and effective date. When we have this information, we can file claims directly to Medicare.

Altru will also assist in filing claims to your supplemental policies if you provide us the information requested of you, the policyholder. Please keep in mind that insurance is not a substitute for payment to Altru Health System. Some insurance companies pay fixed allowances for certain procedures, while others pay a fixed percentage of the charge. It is the patient's responsibility to pay any deductible amount, co-insurance or other balances not paid by your insurance company.
