Altru Psychiatry Center offers comprehensive services designed to provide support, professional assessment and therapy and referral services as needed. A team of experienced psychiatrists and licensed clinical social workers provide a resource unmatched by others for supportive therapeutic services. They work together to provide a personal and responsive approach to mental health. With all outpatient services located in one central location – Altru Psychiatry Center – patients of all ages are afforded the personalization and privacy they deserve.

Altru’s psychiatrists provide evaluations, and the development and management of treatment plans for patients. Outpatient Therapy

With a team approach to mental health, we work to understand your needs and provide the resources necessary for comprehensive evaluation and treatment. Serving all ages, several therapy options are available.
Individual Therapy
Altru’s licensed clinical social workers offer individual therapy for patients as they experience a wide array of reasons affecting one’s ability to cope.
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Adjustment difficulties to life changes (death of a family member, divorce, physical separation)
- Loss of physical functioning
- Changes or losses due to a medical condition
- Post-traumatic stress

Family Therapy
Families may find therapy from Altru Psychiatry Center. Altru works with families who are facing issues including, but not limited to:
- Children experiencing behavioral problems
- Issues significantly affecting their children’s ability to cope
- Helping a family deal with separation and divorce, blended families, or families with children with ADD or ADHD.
- Domestic violence
- Helping recovering alcoholics reintegrate into the family system.
Couples Therapy
Our staff work with married or unmarried couples to address relationship issues, including divorce and separation, abuse and/or infidelity. Couples are seen to assist them in learning better communication skills and to learn how to manage conflict.
Group Therapy
Group therapy has many advantages. Group members often develop a common bond and affirm another’s feelings. Group members no longer feel isolated an alone; they feel supported by others who share similar experiences. Altru Psychiatry Center offers several group therapy sessions.

Other groups may be introduced if a topic is suggested by parents or referring physicians/other caregivers and a significant need is evident.
