Camp Good Mourning

Camp Good Mourning is an annual three-day grief camp for children and teens ages six through 18 years of age who have experienced the death of a loved one.

In order to refocus on life, children must first deal with their grief. Group sessions and activities help children and teens express their feelings, learn healthy coping skills and allow them to share their experiences with other children and teens in their own age group who have lost a loved one.

Some of the fun and therapeutic activities children and teens can participate in include games, swimming, arts and crafts, hiking, journaling, music therapy, trust-building activities and low adventure and high ropes courses.

Camp is brought to a close with a memorial service and a tree planting ceremony.  Following the ceremony, a family picnic is enjoyed by all.

Altru’s Hospice will hold its 16th Camp Good Mourning on June 27 – 29, 2014, at Park River Bible Camp, near Park River, N.D.
