The Altru Research Department was opened in 1993 to provide an opportunity
for patients in our service area to benefit from new and unavailable treatments
for their health conditions. Altru currently conducts clinical and original
research studies. There have been over 1,000 studies completed at Altru
Health System (AHS). Research has been conducted in the following areas:
biomedical research, health services, general medicine, cardiology, vascular
disease, diabetes, renal disease, and neurology.
The Research Staff and Physicians are knowledgeable and experienced in
research process and regulations. We are committed to adhere to Good Clinical
Practice (GCP) guidelines that assures the rights, safety and well-being
of trial subjects are protected and the clinical trial data is credible.
We use our corporate subscription with CITI program to maintain compliance
with GCP training and certifications. All research staff have ACRP memberships
and maintain good standings with professional research organizations.
