Altru and Grand Forks Public Health Partner to Offer Drive Thru COVID-19 Testing

Grand Forks, N.D. – Altru and Grand Forks Public Health are partnering to offer Drive Thru COVID-19 Testing beginning Tuesday, September 7 at Altru South Washington Medical Park located at 1490 44th Avenue South/4500 South Washington Street in Grand Forks.

“Altru and Grand Forks Public Health have seen an increased demand for COVID-19 testing,” said Heather Strandell, Director of Primary Care at Altru. “After our success with curbside and drive thru testing last year, our patients are asking for a similar option once again. This partnership will help us test more people, in a convenient and safe way.”

PCR testing will be available at Altru South Washington Medical Park Monday through Friday from 12:30 - 6 p.m. and there will be options available during weekends. COVID-19 testing and screening will still be available at the University of North Dakota’s Fritz Pollard Jr. Athletic Center located at 2419 2nd Ave N in Grand Forks, Monday through Friday from 7 -11 a.m. The UND site will continue to offer both PCR testing and rapid antigen screening. Individuals interested in rapid antigen screening will continue to register at

“Robust and responsive testing infrastructure continues to remain an essential tool for stopping the spread of COVID-19. Testing identifies individuals currently infected allowing them to isolate and reduce the chances that they will infect others. It also allows them to seek treatment earlier, likely reducing disease severity,” said Debbie Swanson, Director at GFPH. “To maximize protection from COVID-19 and preventing the spread, in addition to testing, GFPH advises area residents to get vaccinated, wear a mask indoors in public, physically distance and frequently wash your hands.”

To schedule a PCR test, visit or call the Nurse Advice Line at 701.780.6358.
