Altru Commits $1 million to the Career Impact Academy Project

Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health System will invest $1 million in the planned Career Impact Academy (CIA) project, which is being spearheaded by the Grand Forks Region EDC and the Grand Forks Public School System.

“As one of the region’s largest employers, we are excited about the potential of the CIA to serve as a robust pipeline for future employees in a number of different fields, as well as a resource for continuing education and skills development, shared Kristi Hall-Jiran, Altru’s Chief Philanthropy and Partnership Officer. “Further, we know the CIA will contribute to the overall economic engine of our community and region and are pleased to support this important economic development opportunity.”

The Career Impact Academy will provide hands-on learning spaces to explore in-demand career fields in the Grand Forks region. The Academy would give students the opportunity to receive specialized training, preparing them to be career ready or college prepared.

“The Career Impact Academy will be a collaborative effort to make a difference for students and for those seeking to learn new skills and gain career experience,” shared Kellee Fisk, Altru’s Chief People & Strategy Officer. “It will serve as a differentiator for employers in our region, and can strengthen our healthcare workforce to ensure that vital resource is available to our community for the long-term.”

Altru’s commitment provides the opportunity to secure matching grant dollars for the CIA from the North Dakota State Department of Career and Technical Education.
