Altru Health Foundation to Participate in Giving Hearts Day 2016

Grand Forks, N.D. – Altru Health Foundation will participate in  Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event on February 11. Donations of $10 or more made to Altru Health Foundation at on this day will be matched up to $10,000, courtesy of Dakota Medical Foundation, McDonald's – Mike and Cindy O'Keefe, Sadie's Couture Floral & Event Styling – Sadie Gardner, C & R Cleaners & Laundry – Don and Patricia Larsen, Yvonne Nelson and Altru Alliance. All proceeds raised will benefit  Altru’ s Infant Bereavement Program

“Altru Health Foundation is pleased to be chosen to participate in Giving Hearts Day. One hundred percent of every donor's generous gift will benefit the needs of families experiencing the grief of losing their baby,” says Jon Green, executive director of Altru Health Foundation.

Every year, over 225 local families never get to bring their babies home. Packets are given to families which include a baby ring, crocheted booties and blankets, grief books and a teddy bear. Research shows that mothers physically ache to hold something in their arms, which is why Pastoral Services provides teddy bears. Those bears most certainly do not replace their baby, but can help ease the pain in some ways. Other services the program offers include memory boxes, infant burial boxes and a monthly

support group. To help support grieving families, go to on February 11 and donate to Altru Health Foundation.
