Tim Nesdahl Named Paramedic of the Year by North Dakota VFW


Grand Forks, N.D. – Tim Nesdahl, paramedic and supervisor of Altru’s Ambulance Services has been named the recipient of the prestigious Emergency Medical Services Public Safety Award for the State of North Dakota. His nomination came from the Grand Forks VFW Post 1874.

Nesdahl has been involved in EMS for 23 years with the last 16 years servicing the Grand Forks community as a paramedic at Altru. Recently, Tim has been instrumental in the implementation of the post-hospitalization home visit program. The home visit paramedic partners with the patient post-hospital discharge to:

  • Review and answer questions regarding medications
  • Review and answer questions about follow-up appointments and transportation to the appointments
  • Assess the home for fall and safety hazards
  • Ensure proper medical equipment and supplies are available
    Tim has been a mentor to dozens of EMS personnel and has been actively involved in the community.

Tim is described as an outstanding leader, educator and demonstrates outstanding performance of his duties as a paramedic. He will be presented an award plaque and check by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1874 on September 5. The purpose of this award is to honor and recognize local public safety servants.
