Sports Advantage

Altru Sports Advantage offers physical performance enhancement services for youth athletes, collegiate athletes and fitness-focused adults to train at the highest level with training and nutrition education. With the support of sports medicine professionals at Altru Advanced Orthopedics, you can trust our team to help you achieve your goals safely and effectively through our advanced sports performance and training center.

Each program begins with an individualized assessment, where our experts listen to your concerns, understand your goals and tailor a program to best suit your needs. Your well-being is our top priority, so you have access to experts across the entire continuum of care at Altru. We have a physical therapist on-site who ensures our athletes and clients receive seamless care and can transition back to activity safely.

Our team offers training options and nutrition services to fit your specific needs. With over 12,000-square-feet of space, Altru Sports Advantage provides top of the line equipment, dedicated training space and a synthetic turf field.


Programs Offered

Local human performance specialists and board-certified sports dietitians lead our programs:

Bridge Program

We provide participants with performance training, nutritional support and physical therapy through a continuum of a care-based model.

What Does the Bridge Program Do?

  • Supports people who are hesitant about working out again or might feel they are too out of shape to be back in a fitness facility
  • Supports the injured population of the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks communities

What Bridge Program Participants Can Expect

  • An assessment by our performance staff (comprising of a performance specialist and performance dietitian) and physical therapy team to determine plan of care
  • Performance specialists who assimilate the information provided by each participant and customize their movement ability and strength level
  • The option of training twice per week or up to six days per week
  • One-on-one consultation with our registered dietician to develop customized plan in line with specific goals and needs

Cost and Breakdown

Every Bridge Program participant pays an initiation rate of $179 for their first three weeks.

  • Per week: $59
  • Per session: $9

One-on-One Training

Personal training at Altru Sports Advantage is an outstanding option for someone who prefers a one-on-one coaching relationship as their key form of training. It is also the ideal solution for people with varying schedules, such as athletes, executives and stay-at-home spouses.

Our nationally qualified team personalizes your workout so it caters to your individual wants and needs. Whether your goal is to decrease body fat and build muscle or to live an overall healthier lifestyle, we can help. Our team can keep you on track, inspired and accountable, and can help you stay focused on reaching your goals.

If you have any specific health conditions or injuries, we will work with you and your doctor and one of our physical therapists to plan a safe, effective and sustainable program. If you have not trained in a long time, one-on-one training is a wonderful way to begin your fitness journey.

Performance Evaluation

Training at Altru Sports Advantage begins with an initial evaluation. This evaluation looks at your biomechanical breakdown, the results of which lead our experts to a greater understanding of your body. This evaluation helps them work with you to create an individualized game plan.

Performance Nutrition

Sports Advantage's Nutrition Services are available to athletes and adults of all fitness levels.

Nutrition Analysis
Altru's on-site performance dietitian will review your current diet and make appropriate food, fluid and supplement recommendations based on your goals. Includes body composition test, macronutrient breakdown and an example day to meet your needs. Active individuals will also receive pre/post workout recommendations.

  • Access to Healthie (exclusive nutrition app)

Grocery store tour (60 mins)
Hands-on education session at a local grocery store where our dietitian will walk you through what a healthy shopping trip looks like, aisle-by-aisle. Up to 3 people.

Body Composition Test (15-20 mins)
Proven and trusted ultrasound technology that can accurately measure body fat percentage and muscle mass.
For college/elite athletes or active adults with specific body composition goals

Metabolism Testing
Calculates a person’s Resting Energy Expenditure (REE), commonly referred to as a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Knowing your individual metabolic rate allows us to determine your caloric needs required for weight loss, maintenance, or weight gain.
