Get to Know Doug Arvin, MBA, CPA, Chief Financial Officer

The best part of Doug Arvin’s job is seeing the success of a whole organization and aligning goals to achieve that success. We are proud to welcome Doug to our executive team as the incoming Chief Financial Officer for Altru Health System.

While Doug is new to Altru, he is not new to the world of healthcare administration. Before joining the Altru team, he’s been in hospital or health system operations for over two decades in a variety of roles in Indiana, Ohio, Texas and Georgia.

Here Are 10 Things to Know About Doug:

1. Outside of the office, Doug likes to golf, listen to live music and hike. A new hobby he’s picked up since his move to North Dakota is snowmobiling.
2. Doug is inspired by seeing community health needs met along with seeing others develop. He is excited to see the next generation take healthcare to the next level to care for the many challenges that exist.
3. Doug’s favorite quote is by George Bernard Shaw “Those who cannot change their minds, cannot change anything.”
4. Doug’s favorite food is fresh peaches and cream.
5. 3 words that describe Doug are: approachable, trustworthy and a good teammate and coach.
6. The highlight of Doug’s career thus far is being named CFO of the Year in southwest Ohio in 2012 and graduating with his MBA.
7. If Doug had an extra hour of every day, he would spend it hiking up Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia to soak in the scenery.
8. Doug chose a career in healthcare because he is interested in working in an industry focused on making people’s lives better and healthier.
9. Doug’s mentors are his mother, who was a saint; Rick Hinds, the system CFO he worked with in Ohio; and Bill Huston and Scott Richardson who he worked with in Texas.
