Appointments & Procedures

In an effort to maintain a safe care environment in our clinics we are asking those with upper respiratory symptoms to call our screening hotline, regardless of travel or known contacts with someone with COVID-19. These symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and nasal congestion. If you do not suspect you have COVID-19 but are experiencing these symptoms, you can also walk-in to Altru’s Sick Clinic, which will be temporarily located at Altru Family Medicine Residency. The team at this clinic will be following elevated protocols, including the use of PPE during visits, to assist in reducing the spread of potential respiratory illnesses.

Establishing these additional measures will allow us to properly care for our patients with respiratory concerns in a separate environment from other patients. This includes our pediatric patients and those seeking care for other reasons.

Additionally, to reduce traffic to our clinics, we will be evaluating regular appointments on a case-by-case basis and rescheduling those that are not considered time-sensitive or completing them via video visit or over the phone. Your provider will be in contact with you if your appointment needs to be rescheduled for a later date or done virtually.

If you are experiencing severe symptoms, please call 911.

Changes to Elective Procedures

As we prioritize the safety of our staff, patients and community, Altru is evaluating the completion of elective surgeries and related clinic visits on a case-by-case basis. We have developed protocols to determine if a procedure will move forward based on each patient’s individual needs. We will continue to do urgent and emergent surgeries, putting measures in place to ensure our patients and staff are safe.

It is important to understand that ‘elective procedure’ is a broad term. It can include any procedure that is scheduled in advance. This can range from cosmetic surgeries, such as breast augmentations, to cardiovascular procedures that a patient is scheduled for in advance. Our focus will be to continue to complete procedures that are deemed time-sensitive and essential to the immediate well-being of the patient.

MyChart Direct Scheduling is Temporarily Unavailable

To allow us to safely screen all patients during this time, we have temporarily paused on self-scheduling through MyChart. Please call your provider's office to schedule your appointment, or call Altru's main number at 701.780.5000. If you are experiencing upper respiratory symptoms, please visit Altru’s Walk-in Sick Clinic, or call the COVID-19 Screening Hotline at 701.780.6358.
