Dr. Hawwa Alao joined Altru's Gastroenterology team in 2020. She is a well-trained and experienced gastroenterologist and hepatologist. Driven by her passion for service to the community and comprehension of GI/liver diseases, she takes pride in providing the best care conceivable. As an NIH-trained physician, her goals include investigating liver diseases and performing procedures that will help patients understand their disease burden in order to better make decisions on their health. In addition to her primary job functions, Dr. Hawwa Alao has been recognized by peers for her extraordinary commitment to evidence-based top quality of care. In her free time, Dr. Alao likes to hike, read about African history and does not miss a beat with the African music genre.
