John Eickman, MD, FAANS, is a neurosurgeon at Altru Health System. He specializes in looking for surgical options to try and treat acute and chronic spine and pain conditions hoping to improve patient's quality of life, in addition to providing general Neurosurgical care to the community. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, cooking, movies, and spending time at the lake.

Philosophy of Medicine

"I was fortunate to be exposed to Neurosurgery at an early age by Dr. Daniel Schmelka in Grand Forks as well as have a talented mentor in Dr. Charles Branch, Jr., train me at Wake Forest University. My practice involves correlating patient symptoms, physical exam findings, and imaging studies and then looking at appropriate surgical solutions to try to improve quality of life."
