Grand Forks, N.D. – Choice Health & Fitness and Altru Health System will hold a fall prevention program for seniors. Stepping On is a seven-week program aimed at educating and building confidence to reduce or eliminate falls. The program is FREE and will be held Mondays from 1-3 PM beginning January 7 through February 18, 2019, at Choice Health & Fitness. Stepping On is for older individuals, living at home, who do not have dementia and have recently fallen or have a fear of falling.

Falls are a significant cause of injury in the U.S., specifically in those ages 65 and older. One-third of people over the age of 65 falls every year and ten percent of these falls require hospitalization. The Stepping On workshop will include strength and balancing exercises, medication management, and home safety tips. It will also touch on how footwear, vision, and mobility are important in preventing falls.

For more information about Stepping On, contact Bill Vasicek at 701.780.5939 or via email atbvasicek@altru.org. To register, call Choice Health & Fitness 746.2790.
