Altru to Hold Cherished Children Memorial Service on August 13

Grand Forks, N.D. – Altru Health System will hold its annual Cherished Children Memorial Service with booths opening at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 13 on the front grounds of Altru Hospital. The evening opens with booths featuring bereavement resources and memory-making opportunities. This event seeks to support families who have lost a child by any means, at any stage of life, whether during pregnancy, childhood, or adulthood.

“We hope to provide a safe and comfortable place for families who have lost a child,” shared Rachel Dauksavage, a bereavement coordinator at Altru Health System. “By coming together with others who understand what it’s like to lose a child, we strive to provide a bridge from suffering to hope.”

This year, the program, “The Many Colors of Grief” will begin at 6:30 p.m. During the program, a children’s tent will be available for those aged four and up. Activities include music, stories, and crafts. The event is free and open to the public with refreshments served at 7:30 p.m. following the program.
