Altru has received notification from the North Dakota Department of Health of the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in our region. The Ramsey County patient is receiving care at home. While this is not causing panic, it is a reminder that everyone has a role to play in keeping our families and friends healthy and safe. Now is the time to be extra-vigilant about hand washing, avoiding touching your mouth, nose, and eyes with unwashed hands, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow, and staying home when you are ill. If patients who test positive for coronavirus do require hospital care in the future, Altru team members are well prepared to care for them.
