Express eVisits & After Hours Nurse Line

Sickness doesn’t always happen during normal business hours. Sometimes, your allergies keep you awake all night, or your child catches the flu during a busy workweek. It’s inconvenient, but seeking treatment doesn’t have to be.

For treatment of or advice about minor illness at convenient times, Altru Health System offers two options: Express eVisits and the After Hours Nurse Line.

Express eVisits

Express eVisits allow you to initiate an appointment with a family medicine provider through your MyChart patient portal from the comfort of your home. To begin an eVisit, log in to your patient portal via your smartphone, tablet or computer, and fill out a questionnaire about your symptoms. Then, use our secure messaging system to discuss your symptoms with a provider, who can recommend treatment, order prescriptions to your pharmacy or, if necessary, request an in-person visit.

Concerns we commonly treat through eVisits include but are not limited to:

  • Allergies
  • Cough or sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Influenza
  • Pink eye
  • Sinus issues
  • Skin concerns, such as burns, insect bites and rashes

eVisits can be initiated any day, anytime. Our providers will respond within four hours of your initiation during the following business hours:

  • Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Weekends and holidays, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.

Providers respond to eVisits initiated after 7 p.m. no later than 11 a.m. the next day.

After Hours Nurse Line

Not sure if you need an appointment, or do you have a question about bothersome symptoms or other health concerns? Our After Hours Nurse Line is available to answer any of your questions during extended hours when offices are closed.

When you call our After Hours Nurse Line, you will speak with a registered nurse who can:

  • Answer questions about common health concerns
  • Provide advice for at-home care
  • Suggest next steps for in-person care within your network, such as a primary care provider’s office or [Altru Express]

A nurse is available to speak with you about medical concerns during the following times:

  • Monday–Thursday, 5 p.m. - 7 a.m.
  • Open 24 hours on the weekend, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday
