Altru's Medical Fitness Center welcomes all ages and fitness levels. Our center is part of a comprehensive health system which features an array of medical specialties and services. Our professional staff provides:

Altru's Medical Fitness Center offers a wide variety of group fitness classes for all ages and abilities, including:

A & E (Arthritis and Exercise)

Arthritis and Exercise focuses on gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion and maintain muscle strength. Exercises can be done while sitting or standing and are easily modified to accommodate various fitness levels and limitations.

  • Mondays and Fridays 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.


Balance is designed to improve balance and prevent falls through exercises that target strength, coordination, flexibility and balance. The goal of these exercises is to keep you active and safe at home and in the community.

  • Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Bone Builders
Bone Builders teaches you “site-specific” exercises that directly target areas of restriction and weakness, help decompress your spine, and increase your body's bone density. Exercises are performed while lying down on a mat or on a low padded table, and are modified to meet the individual's needs.
  • Fridays 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Cardio Tone-Up
Cardio Tone-Up is a group exercise class combining calisthenics, body weight, and core exercises designed to get a full-body workout in while having fun! For moderate to advanced fitness levels.
  • Mondays 5:15 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Circuit training is a high-intensity class that combines strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and core training. A fast paced class designed to get a full body workout during your lunch hour. For moderate to advanced fitness levels.
Tuesdays/Thursdays 12:10 p.m. – 12:50 p.m.
Core combines both exercise and education in a comfortable setting. This class is designed to develop strength and stability in the body’s core (abdominal, pelvic, and back muscles). All levels of fitness can benefit from this exercise class.
  • Mondays 12:10 p.m. – 12:50 p.m.
Relax is a time reserved for individuals seeking a QUIET and calm environment in the therapeutic pool. To be respectful of others, conversations and interruptions are discouraged. Doors will be closed, prohibiting people to enter and leave during this time. Enjoy 30 minutes of silence in a relaxing environment.
  • Tuesdays/Fridays 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Senior Fitness
Senior Fitness is a moderate-intensity fitness class that is geared toward improving strength, endurance, and flexibility. From body weight exercises to weightlifting and core training this class will provide you with a great full body workout.
Tuesdays/Thursdays 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Water Exercise Together is a low-intensity warm water class focusing on exercises to increase joint flexibility and range of motion, improve muscular strength, core development, and balance.
  • Monday - Thursday 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday/Thursdays 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m

Membership Rates

  • Altru Employee, Volunteer, Valley Memorial Home- $25/month
    (Spouses and children 11 -20 years old)
  • Altru Employee Family - $33/month
    (At least two immediate family members with children ages 11 to 20 years old)
  • General Public - $35/month
  • General Public Family - $75/month
    (At least three immediate family members with children ages 11 to 20 years old)
  • Senior Citizen - $25/month
    (60 & over)
  • One Day Pass - $5

*No initiation fee.
*No long term contract.
*New members receive a free personalized training session.

Members under 18 years of age must have parental consent and complete an introductory session with the Medical Fitness Center staff.

Saturday & Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Personal Training

Do your workouts need a little variety? Do you need help meeting your exercise goals? A personal trainer is the perfect tool to help you recharge your workouts. We work one-on-one with you to help you achieve your goals. All fitness levels, from beginner to advanced, can benefit from personal training sessions.

Therapeutic Pool

Use of the heated therapeutic pool is included in a membership. The pool is an ideal environment to improve flexibility, strength and mobility. It is especially beneficial for those who have pain from orthopedic conditions, arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Water Exercise Together (WET) Class - a low intensity warm water class for anyone who wants to improve their flexibility and strength. This half hour class will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Monday & Wednesday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
