Altru’s Inpatient Rehabilitation’s goal is to maximize or
restore a patient’s functional level of independence for discharge
to the appropriate community setting.
Our services stem back to 1958, when the University of North Dakota’s Medical Center Rehabilitation Hospital opened its doors. In 1968, we became one of the first rehabilitation inpatient programs in the United States accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Altru maintains that accreditation today. Altru's Inpatient Rehabilitation holds a distinguished place in the regional medical community, and has, over the years, provided care to thousands of individuals.

Working together as an interdisciplinary team, we achieve optimum health for those we serve.
Patients and family actively participate in setting rehabilitation goals.
Services included in your experience:
Altru’s Inpatient Rehabilitation features 23 spacious patient rooms, a congregate dining facility and a family day room.
Patient and Family Information
The goal of inpatient rehabilitation is to maximize or restore a patient's functional level of independence for discharge to a community setting (home, assisted living or basic care). Mental health is very important no matter where you are on your personal journey to health and wellness. Altru’s Inpatient Rehabilitation provides individualized recommendations for mental health care following discharge. Many resources are available locally and within the region to support you.
The Peer Mentoring Support Program is offered by Altru Health System and allows individuals one-on-one time with a mentor that understands their thoughts and feelings.
For more information about Peer Mentoring, please call 701.780.2314.
Have you or a loved one experienced the effects of a stroke?
Survivors, family and caregivers are invited to interact with other stroke survivors and experts in the field. Each month will feature speakers and group discussion.
Connecting with other survivors and caregivers to share experiences, information and advice can be incredibly beneficial.
For more information, please call 701.780.2379 or visit Altru.org/stroke.
