In the case of dry needling, also known as trigger point dry needling a few needles help relieve chronic and acute pain. Dry needling is like pushing the “reset” button on an electronic device. Dry needling is a treatment in which a monofilament needle is inserted into the skin and muscle tissue to help release a trigger point, or a tight band of muscle tissue that can cause local pain or pain that refers to other parts of the body. By inserting the needle into soft tissue/muscle, it helps to improve blood flow, relax or lengthen shortened muscles and promote healing.
