Thanks to our collaboration with Mayo Clinic, our patients have access to even more world-class care. If your situation requires an additional clinical opinion or specialty care, your doctors at Altru can collaborate directly with Mayo Clinic specialists, providing you the care you need and peace of mind.

Each patient’s needs are unique, so our care is too. Our expert providers offer patients comprehensive, individualized cancer care—from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

Cancers Treated

Cancer occurs when normal body cells begin growing uncontrollably. These cancerous cells can be any type of cell in the body, and so there are as many different types of cancer as there are different types of cells. And each type of cancer creates different symptoms, leads to different complications, and requires a unique treatment approach. At Altru Cancer Center, we provide diagnosis, treatment and other services for the full spectrum of cancer types.

Cancers we treat include but are not limited to:

No matter what type of cancer you have, we have the capabilities and expertise you need.

Screening and Diagnosis

Your cancer journey begins long before the first day of treatment. We recognize the importance of diagnosis as part of the process—and that a cancer diagnosis often triggers an intense emotional response.

Treatment is most effective when cancer is diagnosed early, which is why we detect and diagnose early-stage cancers with advanced imaging and screening services.

Our diagnostic services include:

Because some types of cancer have a genetic component, we also offer genetic testing. These specialized tests can help patients understand their risks for developing cancer and enable them to take preventive steps to avoid the disease.

Types of Cancer Treatment

No two cases of cancer follow the same course. Every patient’s case is unique and requires a personalized treatment plan.

If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, our team of providers will collaborate to determine your best path forward. Many different treatment options for cancer are available, and patients at Altru Cancer Center have access to them all, including emerging innovations in treatment.

Depending on your individual needs, the type of cancer you have, and the stage of your cancer, your doctor may recommend radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, surgery or a combination. In some cases, you may qualify for a clinical trial related to your specific type of cancer.

Support and Survivorship

Oncology care doesn’t end when your treatment does. We believe in treating the whole person through cancer care—and that process continues after you’re cancer-free. At Altru Cancer Center, we provide support services to help you navigate both the cancer journey and survivorship.

We recognize that survivorship brings challenges and concerns of its own, and we are here to support you every step of the way, including by helping you access financial assistance and other support resources.
