The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for healthcare providers who initiate and direct basic through advanced life support of the pediatric patient. During the course, you will actively participate in a series of simulated core cases.
These simulations are designed to reinforce important concepts, including:
- Identification and treatment of problems that place the child at risk for cardiac arrest
- Application of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment
- Use of the "evaluate-identify-intervene" sequence
- Use of PALS algorithms and flowcharts
- Demonstration of effective resuscitation team dynamics
To help you achieve the course objectives the course includes:
- Basic life support (BLS) competency testing
- Skills stations
- Core case discussions and simulations
- Core case testing stations
- A written exam
Textbook
The required textbook is the American Heart Association's Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Manual (2015 edition). It should be read in its entirety before the first class session.

Class registrants will receive information prior to the course date. Please contact Clinical Education if you have not received your material three weeks prior to the course.
Class sizes are limited. Class fees must accompany registration. Participants canceling less than two weeks before class dates will be ineligible for a refund.
We reserve the right to cancel a course due to lack of enrollment, inclement weather and other circumstances as needed. In such cases, registrants will be notified and a full refund will be given. If you need special facilities or assistance relating to a disability, contact us at least two weeks prior to the course.
Textbook: Can be purchased online from vendors such as Amazon or Barnes & Noble. The 2020 Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Manual is the required text for the class.
