About Christen

Christen Murray, DO is a Family Medicine provider at Altru Health System. She was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi, which may sound familiar to those who watch the HGTV show, Home Town. She is the first physician in her family and the first to complete a four-year college degree. She completed medical school at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After experiencing both extremes of climate, she has found that she much prefers the North Dakota winters. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs.

Philosophy of Medicine

My decision to practice medicine came from experiences I had as a child with my grandmother's battle with cancer. I try to approach patients as if they were my family member; I think that it helps patients feel more at ease. I am a big proponent of shared decision-making so that my patients and I can make a plan of care together.

Excellent care from Dr. Murray, always. I have referred my parents to Dr. Murray as well, and a friend.

I like Dr. Murray. She is always kind and seems thorough. She explains things well. Also, I like that she gets back to you rather quickly after your test results come in. You cannot help but look up your MyChart results, its too tempting. But, it can also be a problem when you do not know what the results mean and what you need to do about them. Dr. Murray gets back to you rather quickly to explain what you are reading. That is very important. My issues (thankfully) have been relatively benign, but had there been something to be concerned about, I would not want to linger in worry. That is probably what I appreciate the most.
