Description
Sounds such as whooshing made by fast, choppy blood flow through the heart. Some murmurs are harmless. Others are a sign of a serious heart condition.
When to seek immediate medical care
See a healthcare professional immediately if:
- Unexplained chest pain.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Blue or gray lips or fingernails.
When to make a doctor's appointment
Make an appointment to see a healthcare professional if:
- Dizziness.
- Fainting.
- Enlarged neck veins.
- Chronic cough.
- Heavy sweating with little activity.
