A humerus fracture is a break in the upper arm bone.

Symptoms

Symptoms depend on where the break is. It can be near the shoulder, in the middle of the bone or near the elbow. Symptoms often include pain, swelling and bruising.

Treatments

Treatment depends on the type of break. Treatment includes keeping the bone from moving with a sling, brace, splint or cast. Surgery may be needed to line up the ends of the broken bones. Physical therapy typically is needed after healing.
