Altru Announces New Medical Directors

Grand Forks, N.D. – Altru Health System is proud to announce that Rabeea Aboufakher, MD, has accepted the role of Medical Director of Heart & Vascular Services and Jonathan Haug, MD, has accepted the role of Medical Director of Surgical Services.

Dr. Aboufakher has practiced as an interventional cardiologist at Altru for the past nine years. He serves as the chair of Heart & Vascular Services, the director of Altru’s cath lab and as a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Dr. Aboufakher is a graduate of Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in Damascus, Syria. He completed his interventional cardiovascular fellowship at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Aboufakher is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Jonathan Haug has been an anesthesiologist at Altru for the past 13 years. He serves as the chair of Anesthesiology. Additionally, he is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Dr. Haug earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Haug is a diplomat for the American Board of Anesthesiology.
