Altru Health System Named 2018 Chime Healthcare’s Most Wired

Posted OnNovember 20, 2018

Grand Forks, ND – Altru Health System has been named a 2018 Most Wired hospital based on the results of the survey conducted by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). HealthCare’s Most Wired, now in its 20th year, traditionally tracks the adoption of healthcare IT in hospitals and health systems. CHIME took over the Most Wired program and revised the survey questions and methodology this year to highlight strengths and gaps in the industry. The goal is to identify best practices and promote the strategic use of healthcare IT to elevate the health and care of communities around the world.

“Being named “Most Wired” is an honor,” stated Mark Waind, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “Altru is fortunate to have dedicated and talented IT and clinical professionals along with organizational leadership that is committed to implementing innovative IT solutions. We focus on leveraging technology and innovation in ways that enhance care delivery and patient experiences while improving the quality of care for our patients.”

The survey encompasses nearly 700 participants and represents more than 2000 hospitals in the U.S. It examines how organizations leverage IT to improve performance for value-based health care in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management; quality and safety, and clinical integration. Recent innovations at Altru include telehealth advancements, increased interoperability with data needed to provide exceptional care and patient safety, and risk reduction with improvements to electronic health records. Altru received the honor of placing 4th Most Wired out of 254 organizations and was the only health system in North Dakota and Minnesota to receive this distinction.
