Posted OnJune 27, 2019

Altru Health System, Grand Forks, ND – The largest fundraiser of the year for Filling the Gap and Caring for Kids, the Altru Cancer Center Golf Tournament, was held June 13 at the Grand Forks Country Club. Golfers, sponsors, and volunteers all came together and raised over $82,000. In its seventeen-year history, the tournament has raised over $1 million for patients throughout the community and the region.

“Filling the Gap and Caring for Kids meet the needs of financially eligible patients of Altru Cancer Center and Altru Pediatrics that extend beyond our walls to improve patients’ quality of life during their journey, such as gas cards, lodging accommodations, and more that are not typically covered by insurance,” says Lauren Denton, director of philanthropy at Altru Health Foundation. “We are so grateful for the continued generosity of our community to make a difference for our patients.”

In 2018, more than 1,200 patients at Altru Cancer Center received assistance through Filling the Gap. 27 children with chronic conditions qualified for the Caring for Kids grants. So far in 2019, over 84 trips have been supported by Caring for Kids. That adds up to more than 25,300 miles!
